Irish Turf Cart and Sleán Set

The Irish Sleán & Turf Cart Heritage Set

Step back into a time when Ireland's boglands provided warmth, livelihood, and tradition with our Irish Sleán & Turf Cart Heritage Set.

Inspired by generations of turf cutters who harvested peat by hand, this unique display piece celebrates one of Ireland's most iconic rural traditions. The set features a miniature replica of a traditional turf cart loaded with 24 turf sods, accompanied by a detailed Irish Sleán—the specialised spade used for cutting turf from the bog for centuries.

For countless Irish families, the annual journey to the bog was a way of life. Turf was cut, dried, gathered, and brought home to fuel the fires that warmed cottages across the country. At the heart of this tradition was the humble Sleán, a tool that became a symbol of resilience, self-sufficiency, and connection to the land.

Whether displayed in your home, office, or gifted to someone with Irish roots, this charming set serves as a reminder of Ireland's rich heritage and the enduring traditions that shaped rural life.

Handmade in Ireland

- Irish Wooden Turf Cart
Using the latest 3D printing technology to recreate an authentic wooden cart, used to carry turf from the bogs to homes, usually pulled by donkey. We have recreated this in miniature in brown and black PLA to give that authentic feel of the hard work and history behind every turf sod cut by hand and hauled for miles.

- Irish Turf Sleán Spade
(Pronounced Slawn)
This truly unique spade was made for the sole purpose of cutting turf from the bogs into nice even rectangular blocks, easy to stack and carry. The spade came in many styles, but unique with the angular blade and long slender blade, it made easy work of cutting solid turf blocks from the ground.
