The Youshiko YC9481 wireless weather station brings together indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity and barometric pressure with outdoor heat index and dew point. This official UK version features a multi-colour display, an MSF radio controlled clock for the UK and Ireland and support for up to eight wireless sensors.
Start with the included wireless temperature and humidity sensor, then add compatible sensors separately as your monitoring needs grow. Check conditions outside before leaving home, compare them with readings indoors and review recorded highs, lows and hourly history from one console.
Key Features
- Multi-colour section display: separate areas for indoor and outdoor readings, pressure, forecast, time and moon phase.
- Three brightness settings: HI, LO and automatic dimmer.
- Large indoor and outdoor temperature digits: selectable °C or °F, with humidity readings, comfort indication and trends.
- Outdoor heat index and dew point: additional readings beyond temperature and relative humidity.
- Barometric pressure: relative or absolute readings in hPa, inHg or mmHg.
- Weather forecast icons: sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, stormy and snowy.
- Cold-weather indication: a snow icon when the outdoor temperature falls to 3°C or below.
- Moon phase: displayed alongside weather and calendar information.
- UK radio controlled clock: MSF time information received through the thermo-hygro sensor, with automatic daylight-saving adjustment that can be enabled or disabled.
- Flexible clock settings: 12/24-hour time and an optional ±12-hour time-zone adjustment.
- Calendar and weekday: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch or Russian weekday display (EN/FR/DE/ES/IT/NL/RU).
- Buzzer alarm with snooze: everyday timekeeping functions plus an ice pre-alert function.
- Maximum/minimum records: temperature, humidity and barometric pressure records, with time and date stamps.
- Hourly history: review readings from the past 24 hours.
- High/low alert settings and display: temperature and humidity alerts for indoor conditions and up to eight outdoor sensor channels.
- Expandable sensor capacity: one YC43-RCC sensor included, with support for up to eight thermo-hygro sensors in total; additional YC43 sensors optional and sold separately.
More Context Than Temperature Alone
The YC9481 combines temperature and humidity with outdoor heat index and dew point, giving you additional ways to interpret local conditions. Its colour-coded indoor and outdoor sections make it easier to distinguish readings at a glance.
Outdoor Heat Index
Heat index combines temperature and humidity to indicate how warm conditions may feel. It adds context to the measured air temperature, particularly during warm, humid weather.
Outdoor Dew Point
Dew point indicates the temperature at which moisture in the air would begin to condense under the prevailing conditions. It provides another way to understand the moisture content of the air alongside relative humidity.
Hygro-Thermo Weather Sensor: Monitor Up to Eight Locations
One YC43-RCC wireless thermo-hygro sensor is included for remote temperature and humidity monitoring and radio controlled time reception. Its wireless connection sends readings to the main console, where you can also view outdoor heat index, dew point and the station's barometric pressure information.
The console supports up to eight thermo-hygro sensors in total. Additional YC43 sensors are optional, not included and sold separately, allowing you to monitor extra rooms or sheltered outdoor locations without replacing the main console. Eight-sensor support describes the system's capacity; the package contains one sensor, not eight.
Wireless transmission reaches up to 30 metres from the main unit. Actual reception depends on placement, walls, interference and other obstructions. Test reception before fixing sensors in place and follow the supplied operating instructions for pairing and outdoor siting.
Easy Installation with a User-Friendly Interface
The wireless sensor connection makes it straightforward to get started without running a data cable between the sensor and display. Power the main console using the included UK adaptor, fit two AA batteries in the sensor and follow the user manual for pairing and initial settings.
Large digits and distinct colour sections help you read indoor and outdoor conditions quickly. Keep an hourly record of the past 24 hours, review maximum and minimum temperature and humidity readings, and set HI/LO alerts to suit the locations you monitor.
The illuminated display remains easy to read in darker surroundings when operating from the included power supply. Choose HI, LO or automatic dimmer to adjust the backlight for your room.
Barometric Pressure and Forecast Information
Choose relative or absolute pressure readings and your preferred unit: hPa, inHg or mmHg. Absolute pressure describes pressure at the station's location, while relative pressure is adjusted to a reference level for comparison.
The forecast display uses sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, stormy and snowy icons. A snow icon is also shown when outdoor temperature falls to 3°C or below. This is a cold-weather indication, not confirmation that snow is falling.
Forecast icons indicate expected weather trends rather than guaranteeing future conditions. Follow the supplied instructions when configuring pressure settings.
Records, Hourly History and Alerts
Review maximum and minimum records for temperature, humidity and barometric pressure. Records include time and date stamps, helping you identify when extremes occurred. The past-24-hour hourly history lets you review how conditions have changed, rather than relying only on the latest reading.
The HI/LO temperature and humidity alert settings and display cover indoor conditions and up to eight outdoor channels. This gives you a way to track limits across the locations you monitor. One sensor/channel is included; monitoring additional channels requires separately purchased compatible sensors.
The buzzer alarm clock includes snooze and an ice pre-alert function. Refer to the operating instructions for alert thresholds, available settings and how to enable each function.
Radio Controlled Clock for the UK and Ireland
This official UK model uses the MSF time signal for clock synchronisation. The console receives radio controlled time information through the thermo-hygro sensor. Successful reception allows automatic time checks and spring/autumn adjustment when daylight-saving time is enabled. Signal strength and interference can affect reception.
MSF is the time signal used in the UK and Ireland, transmitted from Cumbria. It differs from the DCF-77 signal used by many continental European models.
Choose a 12-hour or 24-hour clock format, set an optional time-zone offset of up to 12 hours in either direction and select the weekday display in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch or Russian. The calendar, alarm and snooze function allow the unit to serve as an everyday clock as well as a weather monitor.
Display Brightness, Power and Placement
The HI, LO and automatic dimmer settings let you adjust display illumination to suit its surroundings. Use the included UK power supply to operate the main console.
A CR2032 backup battery is included for the main unit. This is a backup power provision, not a promise of continuously illuminated operation without mains power. The wireless sensor requires two AA batteries, which are not included.
The console can be used on a desktop with its tabletop stand or wall mounted using the rear mounting slot. The sensor also has a rear mounting slot. Keep the main display indoors and follow the operating instructions for safe placement.
Size and Design
The portrait-format main unit measures 118 × 192.5 × 21 mm, width × height × depth. The sensor measures 61 × 113 × 39.5 mm. The black console contrasts with the white sensor, while the colour display separates the different readings into distinct sections.
A Great Addition to Your Home or Office
The YC9481 suits a home or office where you want detailed weather readings, timestamped records and room to expand to several monitoring locations. It is particularly useful if heat index, dew point and greater sensor capacity matter more to you than a basic temperature-and-humidity display.
Before heading out in the morning, compare outdoor conditions with the indoor readings at your desk or in your living room. During the day, review changes in temperature, humidity and pressure to help plan outdoor activities and keep an eye on comfort inside. The combination of current readings, records and forecast trends provides useful local context without switching between separate displays.
