Three trailing pothos with quite different markings, for a shelf, a high surface or a hanging planter.

Epipremnum aureum, golden pothos, has glossy heart-shaped leaves marbled with gold. Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen' is the creamy white and green form, slower and paler. Scindapsus pictus 'Trebie', satin pothos, is a different genus sold under the same name, with velvety dark green leaves splashed silver. All three trail or climb in the same way, so they can be grown together or spread around the house.

They will grow in anything from a bright indirect spot to a fairly dim corner, though the variegation fades towards plain green in poor light, so the brighter the position the better the markings. Keep them out of direct sun, which scorches the leaves. Let the top few centimetres of compost dry between waterings and make sure the pots drain, because sitting wet is the usual cause of loss. Keep them above 15C and out of cold draughts. Feed monthly from spring to late summer. Trim the stems back if you want fuller plants, or let them run and train them up a moss pole.

Supplied as three established plants in 1 litre root balls, ready to pot into containers of your own. All three are harmful if eaten and irritate skin and eyes, and the trailing stems hang at exactly the height a cat will bat at, so hang them well out of reach.
