Variegated Ivy (Hedera helix) is a classic trailing houseplant, grown for its lobed green leaves edged and splashed in creamy white.
It trails happily from a shelf or hanging basket, or can be trained up a small support indoors, and asks for very little beyond a bright spot out of direct sun.
It arrives as an established plant in a 12cm pot, ready to display on a windowsill, shelf or plant stand.
Keep the compost lightly moist, water less in winter, and trim back any leggy stems in spring to keep it bushy. Ivy is harmful to pets and people if eaten, and the sap can irritate skin, so keep it where children and animals cannot chew it.
