The Firefly Club Explorer's Box
Every Keeper needs a kit.
Before the Firefly Club heads out to the creek, the bandstand, the footbridge, wherever the fireflies are gathering, they pack. Something to draw with. Something to look closer with. A bag to carry it all.
The Explorer's Box is that kit, and it works the way the club actually works: a wooden supply box with a slide-off lid that stays home and keeps everything in order, and a drawstring field bag that goes out the door. Headquarters and expedition. Both halves.
A wooden box holding seven pieces of the Firefly Club kit:
π¦ A wooden supply box with a slide-off lid β 9.5" Γ 6" Γ 3" inside, for pencils, chalk, crayons, scissors, and whatever else a Keeper collects,
π The Keeper's Field Bag β a roomy drawstring pack for letters, loot, and whatever the creek turns up,
π³ The Great Oak β a squeezable little version of the tree that holds the treehouse HQ,
π The Official Club Magnifier β for looking closer at absolutely everything,
ποΈ Rubbing Crayons β six colors. Lay paper flat over something carved, rub one sideways, and watch the message appear,
βοΈ June's Colored Pencils β five colors, for drawing what you notice before you can explain it,
π Sidewalk Chalk β four colors, for maps big enough to stand on,
πΆοΈ Stakeout Shades β Firefly Club right there on the arm.
The rubbing crayons and pencils aren't a coincidence. In her very first case, June lays her paper over a carved stone and rubs a pencil across it so the club can take the message with them β no explanation, she just does it. Any Keeper who's read that letter will know exactly what these are for.
The little oak is the same tree the treehouse is built around, and the same one the tree-ring keychain is shaped after. Kids who have both tend to notice.
None of it needs batteries, an app, or a screen. It's chalk on a driveway, pencils on paper, and a magnifying glass held up to a leaf β the kind of afternoon that used to happen without anyone planning it. Made for ages 7β10, and shared happily with younger siblings.
