USS Hyman G. Rickover SSN 795 Christening Challenge Coin

The USS Hyman G. Rickover SSN 795 Christening Challenge Coin commemorates the submarine's July 31, 2021 christening with a dated edge and an atom-inspired outline. Measuring 2.5 × 1.625 inches, this edition combines submarine artwork with a portrait of Admiral Rickover.

Submarine and atomic imagery

The front displays “USS Hyman G. Rickover” and “SSN 795” around a submarine scene. Orbit-like lines frame the design, with submarine dolphin imagery below and the motto “Committed to Excellence” across the lower part of the central oval.

The devil is in the details

The reverse features a seated portrait of Admiral Rickover beneath the words “The Devil Is in the Details.” Atomic motifs appear above and below the portrait against a black background with fine gold-toned lines. The christening date on the edge distinguishes this edition from the earlier Rickover coin described in the original listing.
