The blade is carefully hand forged using 15N20 & 1095 steel through a process of layering, welding, hammering, and shaping. This process creates a distinctive Damascus pattern across every blade, giving each Zen Hunting Knife its own unique appearance similar to a fingerprint. Each knife is individually handcrafted and visually distinctive.

Damascus steel is known for its strength and hardness. The blade is oil quenched at approximately 2100°F and cooled rapidly to develop hardness throughout the steel. The finished blade achieves approximately HRC 62+ on the Rockwell Scale for dependable cutting performance and edge retention.

The contrasting 15N20 and 1095 steel layers are finished using ferric chloride, revealing the distinctive patterned appearance associated with Damascus steel.

Scales & Handle

The handle is handcrafted using exotic rosewood, selected for its rich natural grain, distinctive color, and comfortable feel. The wood is carefully fitted and treated to improve resistance to moisture, heat, cold, and everyday outdoor conditions. Full tang construction extends the blade steel through the handle for additional strength and stability, while multiple rivets reinforce the handle assembly.
