Fuzzy Fossils Velociraptor Skull

Velociraptor was a fierce little predator that roamed planet Earth 83 to 70 million years ago. This pint-sized (but packs-a-punch!) dinosaur weighed in at 30 pounds but had sharp claws, long arms, and powerful jaws that made it a top predator of the Cretaceous period. The name velociraptor means "fast hunter," and 100 years ago, fossil hunters unearthed its iconic skull and sickle claw. Thanks to the preserved fossils of velociraptor, we now know a lot about its appearance and behaviour — including its awesome night-time vision, clunky gait (which kept its huge killing claw off the ground), and even that it feasted on the frilled herbivore protoceratops! There's also evidence of feathers, proving that velociraptor was a direct ancestor of modern-day birds. Pretty wild, right?!
