Few literary works have captured the obsessive power of scent as profoundly as Patrick Süskind's Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. To translate such a masterpiece into fragrance is an act of rare artistic ambition — a challenge that demands both precision and courage.

In 2025, to mark the 40th anniversary of the novel, Maison Maïssa accepted that challenge. The result is 13e Note — an Extrait de Parfum that does not merely reference the book, but inhabits it.

Crafted by master perfumer Anne-Sophie Behaghel, 13e Note opens with cold metallic clarity and bright bergamot — the sharp, almost clinical precision of Grenouille's obsession. The heart deepens into Indian tuberose absolute and iris, intoxicating and unsettling in equal measure. The base surrenders to civet, honey, patchouli and cedarwood — dark, animalic, unforgettable.

Each note unfolds like a chapter: bright at first, then darker, deeper, more haunting. Where art meets madness, silence becomes scent.
