Engagement Portrait, Salamina

Engagement Portrait, Salamina is a mixed media work by George Tatakis, available as an original painting or a poster reproduction. Select the version and dimensions from the product options; the materials and signature details below refer to the original painting.

The figure is held in a direct frontal position, with the head aligned to the vertical axis and the garment expanding outward in layered bands. The necklace forms a secondary structure across the chest, introducing a horizontal counterbalance to the upright stance.

Color separates the portrait into distinct fields, isolating face, costume, and background as independent surfaces. The image remains flat and controlled, with contrast maintaining the relation between elements without depth.

The work is produced through a layered process: a photograph is printed, painted with acrylic, and reprinted, binding the original image with its alteration.
