Helmsman is the brightest oil in the range. Jasmine, rum, citrus and a little spice, built for warm weather and a beard that does not want to smell like woodsmoke.
The Scent
Citrus opens it, jasmine softens the middle and rum keeps it from turning into a flower shop. The spice sits at the back. It is fresh without being sharp, and it works in summer, on a boat, or in an office where a heavy scent would be too much.
What It Does
Jojoba and argan oil moisturize the skin under the beard and soften the hair. Vitamin E is in the blend. It settles dryness and itch without leaving the beard greasy. It is not a growth product and it does not replace washing.
How to Use It
- Wash and pat dry. Damp skin takes the oil better than dry skin.
- Four or five drops in the palm. Two or three if your beard is short.
- Work it down to the skin, then comb through to spread it evenly.
- Use it once a day. In summer, once is usually enough.
Questions
Is it too floral? The jasmine is there, but the citrus and rum keep it from reading as perfume. If you want less, use fewer drops.
Can I wear it in winter? Yes, but it is the lightest scent in the range. Most men reach for Aficionado or Marksman when the weather turns cold.
What goes with it? Helmsman Beard Balm for hold, or the Pair for both.
