After the Trojan War, parallel to the wanderings of the Odyssey, the last remnants of Troy made their way across the open sea to begin the journey that would lead to the epic founding of Rome.

Follow Virgil's telling of this fantastic tale of Rome's foundation, written to set the stage for Rome's second founding as a great world Empire in the Augustan age.

Aeneas leaves the burning Troy and sets off on the high seas, seducing African queens, descending into the underworld and battling the elements, the many people that swear themselves enemies against his lost host and even the immortal gods.

This edition uses the translation by England's first poet laureate, John Dryden. Illustrations are provided for every chapter by British artist Samuel Wild. This book is hand made in Edinburgh, UK in fine Jemma Lewis hand-marbled paper and deep red leather from our tanners in West Lothian.
